Edward Blackwell

Edward Blackwell

Tonight I would like to introduce you to Rowanne's older brother Edward. He's two years older then her and as children they were very close. They went everywhere together and were always getting into trouble. One time they decided to go down to the kitchen to make a late night snack and nearly burnt the kitchen down. Edward and Rowanne still argue over who is to blame for the incident. When Edward went off to university the two were heartbroken to be parted. They vowed to write often. But as is often the case their letters grew farther apart and shorter as time went on.

Edward is part of the reason that the Blackwells made the move to Eastwich. His good friend Oliver Madden had mentioned that their was a house for sale in his neighborhood and Lord Blackwell had been seeking a home further out in the country. So one could say that Edward is to blame for bringing his family, and particularly his sister, into a dangerous situation. All is not as it seems with Edward and he has been keeping a secret, though not entirely of his own choosing.

Photo Inspiration and Rowanne Blackwell

Phew, I almost didn't make my deadline. But it's still only the second week of January so I'm good. :) What I've decided to do for now is post some photos that have given me inspiration for my stories. I'll also be posting photos that I've found later that help strengthen my own original ideas. This first picture is one that I found after I had already created the character but she fit what I already knew about her that the photo was perfect. So without further ado, let me introduce you to Rowanne Blackwell.

Rowanne Blackwell

Rowanne Blackwell was born on October 19 in the late eighteen hundreds. She lives with her father, Reginald, her mother, Lucinda, her older brother Edward, and her younger sister Christine. The Blackwells have recently moved to Eastwich Manor. A beautiful old house steeped in a dark history. The house was nearly burned down once. The very first night there Rowanne has a supernatural encounter with a young boy which leaves her rather shaken. Slowly she learns that not all is as it seems and that history is about to repeat itself again. Rowanne finds a confederate in her brothers friend and their closest neighbor, Oliver Madden. It will take all Rowanne's strength and courage to discover the hidden past of Eastwich manor and to prevent her family from suffering the same horrible fate.

New Years Challange

This past December I was discussing with a coworker and friend what we were going to do in the upcoming year. I told him I wanted to focus in on my writing. I had been thinking about pursuing a degree in creative writing but then I got to thinking, what if people don't like my style? Do I really want to dedicate four years to something that might prove to be worthless? He was telling me about his sister who does writing for a couple blogs and asked if I had a blog. I laughed and said no. I didn't think I had what it would take to make a good blog. What could I contribute that hadn't been done before? I was pretty sure anything I wrote would be rather lame. Sad for someone who wants to be an author right? Then he told me that my New Years Resolution should be to create a blog and post at least once a week. I thought about it for a second and said fine.

The next day I thought about it some more. What was I going to write about? Then I thought OK, just come up with a title, and maybe the rest will follow. When I thought of Write Place, Write Time I thought it was perfect. The play on words was funny and it wasn't too specific therefore possibly restricting me further. My coworker asked about the blog and I told him my title. He asked when I was going to start and I told him I would start January first. Seemed appropriate, it was a New Years Resolution after all. Plus it gave me time to come up with something, anything, to write about. But then I drew a blank. For two weeks I thought about what to write. January first came, and past. January third my coworker asked me, so when are you writing that blog? I confessed to writers block. He said you can't have writers block if you have nothing written. (An opinion I disagree with by the way.) I told him I had thought about posting why I was writing, but wasn't really sure about it. He said I should just do it. So I am. I am writing a blog for which I have no idea what to write because of a challenge to make this my New Years Resolution. I don't know if I'll be back next week or not but at least I can say I tried. Isn't that the most any of us can hope for?
